Patrick O'Neill's PledgePage
I am running to honor my friend Jimmy Regan, and to support part of his legacy through the Lead the Way Fund. Jimmy was a year ahead of me at Duke, and a teammate for three years. He and I shared a mutual dread for the timed 2-mile running test that awaited our team each September. Recently it occurred to me that this marathon is the equivalent of running the 2-miler...13 times in a row. However, I’ve been surprised to find that I’m enjoying the training: the long runs allow me to forget about everything else I've got going on and remember my friend. Things pop in my head about Jimmy that I haven’t thought of in 10 years. It’s been the best part of this experience so far. Lead The Way Fund, Inc. raises funds in support of families of U.S. Army Rangers who have died, have been disabled or who are currently serving in harm's way around the world. I feel honored to be running for such a worthy cause, and can’t wait for race day!
